Creating Website Indexes

Heather Hedden is an information taxonomist with Viziant Corporation. From 2004 to 2007 she was principal of Hedden Information Management, offering contract services in taxonomy and controlled vocabulary development, book and web site indexing, and web site design. Prior to that she worked at Thomson Gale (previously Information Access Company) for over ten years, first as a periodical database indexer and then as an editor of controlled vocabularies. Heather is active in the American Society of Indexers, having served as vice president and president of the New England Chapter and also in leading the Web Indexing SIG and founding and leading the Taxonomies & Controlled Vocabularies SIG. She has also published numerous articles and given many conference presentations and workshops on indexing and taxonomy topics. Heather has also written a book, Indexing Specialties: Web Sites (Information Today Inc./American Society of Indexers, 2007).
