Kathryn Hammond Baker is Manager, Special Collections, at the Center for the History of Medicine, Francis A. Countway Library of Medicine, Harvard Medical School. She oversees non-book operations, including records management, archives, and manuscripts programs. Kathryn joined the Countway in 1998, when her initial assignment was to establish a records management program for the Harvard Medical School and School of Dental Medicine.

Kathryn has an MS from Simmons College Graduate School of Library and Information Science and an MA in History and Archival Methods from the University of Massachusetts at Boston. Prior to coming to Harvard, She was State Historical Records Coordinator and Deputy State Archivist at the Massachusetts Archives.

She is currently working an NHPRC-funded fellowship project, "Metadata models for Scientific Research Data," exploring how scientists create, organize, and manage research data.
